Overview:

The closing ceremony of the IP SDG forum was held on July 2nd 9:00-12:00pm. The aim of this closing ceremony is to exhibit the students’ project results, enable IP guardians to share their concerns and experiences of the IP courses, review the IP activities, deepen the concept of “the common destiny of mankind”, and celebrate the achievements of the project groups.

In this semester, IP SDG forum has successfully held 3 checkpoints and 1 project approval conference, which aims at promoting project progress at different stages. All the project groups have been through the procedures of project approval, project breakdown, research and investigation, project execution, and etc. Eventually, they have come to the final exhibition to proudly exhibit their products to parents and guardians.

The Competition Results of the IP SDG Forum 2019-2020

No. 1: Why Youth

Why Youth is a project group under the Double H theme. They get the highest bonus points on almost every checkpoint. Not surprisingly, they eventually win the championship and get the title of “the best sustainable development project of the year”.

No. 2: Climate Mitigation

Climate Mitigation is a project group under the Climate Action theme. They are another competent team that performs well on every checkpoint. Even though their original goal of the project is changed due to the COVID-19 situation, they actively changing their execution plan and making it feasible to achieve at the end of the semester.

No.3: 中华小厨神

中华小厨神 is a project group under the Double H theme. The final success is not easy for them since they have encountered lots of obstacles along the way of doing the project. One of the biggest challenges for them is that, compared to other cooking apps, they can’t find their own uniqueness. However, after iteration of their project proposal, they eventually consolidate what exactly they should do in their project. Looking forward to seeing their recipe at 冬宴 of MSA.

Activity: Alpha Version Product Releasing

Rules and the Rubrics: There will be two awards for this checkpoint. “The most popular product” award will be based on the voting of the students, and the “The best project execution” award will be based on the judges’ evaluation of the project plan.

Starting from checkpoint 1, each project group will receive the points according to their performance. Since all the points are cumulative, the project group that receives the highest points after the last checkpoint will receive a bonus from the SDG forum. As for checkpoint 3, the top three with the most votes will receive “The most popular product” awards and will receive 6 points, 5 points, 2 points respectively. As for the “The best project execution” awards, the ranking of which will be based on the evaluation of judges. The groups that get the top three highest scores from judges will receive 6 points, 5 points, and 2 points respectively.

Results:

For the best project execution award, the groups get the highest score are: Why Youth, Teen-Manage, and Climate Mitigation.

For the most popular product award, the groups with the most votes are: Why Youth, 中华小厨神, Moonlit Garden.

Looking forward to seeing each group’s performance on IP final exhibition!

Time: April 24th, 2:10-3:40 pm

Activity: Trailer Display+ Quizzing from Judges + Quizzing from Learners

Rules and the Rubrics: The ranking of each project team will be based on the evaluation of the project progress report and the pitch.

Checkpoint 2 will be based on the three outputs of each project in this activity, which includes product trailers, collaboration templates, and supplementary materials. Since all the points are cumulative, the project group that receives the highest points after the last checkpoint will receive a bonus from the SDG forum. As for the checkpoint 2, the group that gets the highest score from the judges will receive 10 points; the group that gets the second-highest score will receive 8 points; the group that gets the third-highest score will receive 6 points. The groups who participate and get 60 or above from the judges will receive 4 points. The groups that do not participate at all will receive 0.

Results: After the careful examinations of judges, three groups stand out from others. They are: Why Youth-Double H, Climate Mitigation– Climate Action, and Film– Climate Action. Their trailers and question answering show their organized plans and total understanding of their topics. For the project groups that did not get the high ranking at checkpoint 2, the SDG forum committee is still expectation their excellent performance in the near future. The SDG forum committee wants to encourage all the project groups to keep working hard, since, no matter how well you perform this time, it is only the beginning!

Activity: 3 min Elevator Pitch + Project Progress Report

Overview

The IP project approval meeting is the first milestone of the semester in which students have to demonstrate their understandings of the projects and roughly planning on each step they are going to take to complete the project. The goal of this meeting is to provide the ownership of the projects to students since they need to, not only understand the projects from the team coaches’ perspectives but also understand and articulate the project from their own perspectives. For this meeting, students had to figure out an intact and persuasive project plan and present it to the judges. Meanwhile, the SDG forum invited 16 judges to evaluate and give feedback to students’ presentations, and all of them are experienced in the IP related field.

Results

• The projects that ARE NOT approved by the judges:
  • Film Production team
  • All the groups in Double H

Even though the film production team did not pass the review of the first round, they kept working hard and eventually received the acknowledgment from the judges in the second round of the review! Let’s congratulate them as well!

PDF: The Introduction of the IP Project Approval Meeting

Overview

The opening ceremony of the SDG forum was held on Feb 21st 2020. The opening ceremony aimed at launching the themes and project of the semester spring 2019-2020, raising the awareness of the importance of the IP courses, enabling students to have ownerships toward the themes and the projects, and encouraging students to become the “fulfilled individual and active, compassionate citizen”. Most importantly, the SDG forum offered an introduction of the events that are provided by the forum through which students were able to have an overview of the different milestones and the tasks they had to complete this semester.
