This is a photo I took in a museum named 「At the Moment」. The work in the photo is composed by a set of three primary colors of lights: red, green and blue, and a white curtain. From the photo, you can see that the three colors of lights were separated at first, and they formed scattered color blocks of red, blue and green on the white curtain. It’s just that these color blocks create new colors in the place where they are touching one another. Green and blue cross into cyan, where red and blue mix produces red, and there is a bit of yellow between red and green. In addition, a human-shaped shadow appears on the photo. People stand in front of the white curtain, blocking the light from spreading in a straight line, forming a black shadow on the curtain. The figure is based on the principle of using the three primary colors of light as a background to form a slightly cyberpunk-style work.
This work wants to show the impact of the development of science and technology on mankind. It was inspired by my previous experience of insomnia: lying on the bed, the surroundings seemed to be dark, but I felt some strange light appeared. Sometimes it was extremely silent, and sometimes there were some rustling sounds around the bed.
At the beginning, the surroundings of the audience were dark and silent, simulating the environment when there was no technology at all in the ancient times: no lights, only torches and bonfires, no mechanical sounds, only the sound of stones hitting and gurgling water; then , The surrounding environment began to change slowly, and some human noises gradually began to appear. At this time, technology began to slowly develop, accompanied by melodious music, and some car roars appeared; before that, humans and technology and nature coexist peacefully , The surrounding environment is still pitch black, and the audience feels drowsy in this mild environment. Just like the upper part of the picture.
The roar of the train is getting louder and louder, gradually mixed with some strong music and some harsh sounds🔊. The surrounding dark environment was also illuminated for an instant, and dazzling lights of various colors came out randomly from all corners of the space, which instantly formed a strong contrast with the previous dark environment-just like the damage caused by excessive use of technology to humans and nature, expressed in an abstract way.
This is a Minecraft work I completed during the winter vacation of 2021 (disclaimer: not original, refer to the building in a video, but I can’t find the link 😭, but the details are original). It is a modern villa.
The transparent black stained glass and the gentle lantern rendering show the modern atmosphere without losing the retro style.
透明的黑色染色玻璃,温柔的灯笼渲染,尽显现代气息又不失复古风格。
A small green area full of flowers and grass is also a good place to relax in the evening or afternoon.
种满花花草草的一小片绿地,也是傍晚或者午后休闲的好地方。
It can be used for a family to sit on the balcony next to the campfire, barbecue, chat, and enjoy the time together with family and friends.
可供一家人一起围坐在篝火旁边的阳台,烧烤、闲聊、享受家庭和朋友在一起的时光。
Put the hot spring water in the swimming pool to drive away the cold in winter.
放上温泉水的泳池,赶走冬天的寒冷。
The whole building took about 5-6 hours to complete. When referring to other people’s buildings, I can see the creativity of other great gods and learn a lot of different design thinking. Every construction is a learning and progress.
In the fall of 2020, when Moonshot was still at the Changping Transitional Campus, I participated in the recording of five episodes of “Moonshot, Youth”. “Let’s Explore the Moon, Youth” is a popular science documentary whose purpose is to give the public the principles, goals and influence of the Chang’e 5 spacecraft to be launched at that time, and to reflect the development of China’s science and technology.
On the first day of the recording, we went from the Changping campus to the National Astronomical Academy. The dean took us to a lunar surface made of photos of the lunar surface taken by China’s self-developed Chang’e-1, and a model of the lunar surface simulated by stones . The dean told us that the goal of Chang’e-5 this time is to grab the soil on the surface of the moon. This has been achieved in the United States, but it is a milestone event in China. From ancient times to the present, people’s curiosity about the moon has never diminished. Chinese scientists will use the lunar soil they grabbed to explore the mystery of the moon’s surface.
We went from the Astronomical Academy to Miyun District again that day and visited spherical radio telescopes. By the time it was already evening, under the sunset glow, two telescopes stood upright, and scientists used them to observe the dynamics of the launched rocket.
On the next trip, we went to see the test run of the rocket engine. Standing hundreds of meters away from the engine, I saw dazzling blue and red flames ejected from the tail of the engine, accompanied by a huge roar, and I could feel the heart vibrating strongly with it. A lunar exploration engineer said that the fuel used in the Chang’e-5 engine is environmentally friendly hydrogen and oxygen, which is safer and more environmentally friendly than previous fuels. Although our rockets cannot yet be recycled, they are also step by step. Towards more energy conservation.
Later, we went to the China Science and Technology Museum. This is the second time I have come to this museum, but my goal this time is Chang’e 5. Chang’e-5 is also called “Fat Five” because it is currently China’s largest rocket in diameter, and it will take the lunar soil home. It launches from the earth first, rushes out of the earth’s gravity at the second cosmic speed, and leaves the return module to orbit around the moon after being completely separated; then, it lands on the moon at a designated position and grabs the lunar soil; finally, the return module is It will launch a second time on the moon through its own launcher, break away from the gravity of the moon, and return to the earth with the lunar soil.
This shooting gave me a completely new understanding of the launch of the rocket, the target of the rocket launch, and the preparatory work of the rocket launch, and the effort and energy of Chinese scientists have been incorporated. Although I only participated in the filming for a few days, I learned about the hardships of the lunar exploration engineers through the past few days. At the moment of watching the Chang’e-5 launch, I seemed to be able to feel that the scientists were just like parents watching their children get the results. A gratifying achievement.
During the National Day holiday, Math1001B arranged a statistical report of the library as a PA assignment. We were asked to analyze 5 collated data in the Excel table, and 1 raw data as an optional part to supplement the report. The output of this report is some constructive suggestions based on data analysis.
For example, like the picture above, it is a chart made based on analyzing the number of books loaned out by the library each month. It can be seen from these graphs that the borrowing rates of the mentioned libraries decreased during the winter and summer vacations. In order to save electricity and manpower, the libraries may reduce the opening hours during these time periods.
In addition to the parts required to be completed, the processing of the original data also supports some more detailed suggestions. Like the picture below, it is a chart obtained by analyzing the original data.
Here is an analysis of the percentage of people of different ages in a high school library borrowing different books. In this way, we can know the demand for different types of books by students of different grades, or teachers, in the library, and the library can provide suitable books to the corresponding people according to these forms.
The above is the output of the library analysis report, a total of seven recommendations based on data analysis. The details of the steps to come to the recommendations are in the word document (in English) and Excel table (in English as well) of the library report as follow.
Hanging on the tall shelves are all kinds of objects that make sounds, which may be keys, metal chopsticks, spoons, or anything from life. There are several microphones 🎤 hung between them, which can amplify any tiny sounds made by objects. There are two speakers below the suspended object, which can play the sound of their collision, making it easier for the audience to hear them. What this work wants to express is a kind of butterfly effect. When a person starts to make a sound, no matter how small, it breaks the silence of the environment. This has caused more and more people to make voices. Similarly, when an object moves, it will drive the objects around it to move; when the objects around it move, it will drive the objects around them to move. What this work wants to express is a kind of butterfly effect. When a person starts to make a sound, no matter how small, it breaks the silence of the environment. The audience can also freely use their own things to exchange the objects that have been hung on it. Increasing the sense of interaction will also bring some small surprises to the audience.
People can detect the small noise of objects colliding through loudspeakers: in life, if we are willing to listen, we will find a way to hear some small but beautiful sounds and stories.🌹
