Life and death
In 2019, we were assigned the last art IP assignment, which required us to use various means, various materials and different expressions to make the exhibits. The theme I chose this time is about life and death. I have done different things in previous art exhibitions, but I am more interested in my thoughts on nature and the thoughts generated when I see it.
The last few times she asked me for an interview, she gave me some different opinions, because my previous works included both paintings and similar sculptures. But mowen prefers my sculptures to my paintings, because those are the things that really express my own ideas, that really maximize my thoughts, and those are the things that she finds very interesting, and I actually feel that.
Said to why the choice between life and death as my title, I think maybe mostly because of the time we go to the ELP went to xishuangbanna’s sake, I see a lot of very beautiful flowers, there are a variety of shapes, bright colors, make me feel like watching has unlimited inspiration, but it is a pity that I couldn’t put it back to Beijing, will only make it as a data saved on the phone, and can’t direct contact touch with careful observation. To tell you the truth, I really feel it’s a pity, because xishuangbanna is located in the subtropical zone, so there are many beautiful flowers in full bloom there, it makes me intuitively feel the great vitality contained in nature, so I was very relaxed during my stay in xishuangbanna, and in a good mood.
Back in Beijing, I’ve been thinking about how to visualize what xishuangbanna saw. At this time, I happened to see a video about glue drop on station B. Some people used glue drop to make handicrafts, and flowers were also used as materials. When I saw this, it occurred to me that I could also use glue to preserve flowers and plants that would easily break, and I immediately identified glue as one of the materials that could be used. In addition, since flowers and trees are static, real flowers and fake flowers are not so different from each other, which can easily be regarded as real. I also want to use something to better highlight the difference between life and death. So I looked for information on immortal flowers, moss and fish on taobao, which, with the help of gels, should tell the difference between birth and death. In addition, I also bought some plant seeds online, and I decided to let the plants grow before I started, so that I could see the growth more clearly, I thought.

As the book is made up of six different products, the six exhibits represent different meanings.
Exhibit 1: false truth (dead things)
Meaning: this work is made up of all false things, they are not alive, they are dead things, but their appearance is the same as living things, is (that is) false and true.
Exhibit 2: levels of vitality (living creatures)
Meaning: the theme of this work is reflected by the level and time of plant growth. Since all the plants in this work are living, more interesting phenomena may occur after a period of time
Exhibit 3: eggs (life and death)
Meaning: this work is a microcosm of all my small exhibits, in which there are both the living moss and the glue sealing the eternal flowers, projecting onto the other two of my exhibits, the so-called harmony of life and death.
Exhibit 4: geometric objects (dead objects)
Meaning: this work is I use a glue made several geometric decoration, I sealed the more meat, fruit and flowers of plants, such as its color and some content is I set off the cuff, or the time environment, their appearance and shape have been preserved through a glue, allow them to another way to survive.
Exhibit 5: small forests (living creatures)
Meaning: a small forest and exhibits two belong to belong to sense something completely different, vibrant level is still in growth, long and small forest is completely ok, so you can see the difference between the two, also can saying is I exhibits two another stage, it is because the contrast on the meaning, so I can make people more intuitive to see the differences and similarities between the two.
Exhibit 6: bottles (living creatures)
Meaning: this exhibit is the most vivid one among all the exhibits. By combining the movement of plants and fish, I can more vividly reflect the theme of birth and death, and add some liveness and vitality to the static exhibits for contrast and prominence.
