Idea of BOAT
Stacy and I decided to make a boat for our final project. We have a lot of brainstorms, both in thematic and personal terms. We worked together for the first time and exchanged some ideas about art. We never wanted to be human and face, and the last choice was the boat. The concept of boating began because we all liked the sea, had some obsession with it, and then from the beach by the sea, always thought of the beach, and finally thought of the boat. We all have different ideas about the ship, and although what two people do is a ship, we see it in a completely different way.
The boat was an escape for me and an important element of the longing for the road.
The boat, fresh to me, is yearning for.
I am a northerner who seldom goes south to see the sea, or to take a boat.
The ship is strange.
I want to escape, whether it’s at the foot of the moment or where I am the day after tomorrow.
There is nothing more desperate than this.
Desperate, bit by bit to invade me, it occupies me, but I am also obsessed because it makes me happy.
Pain is in happiness, inevitable.
Ships are tools, vehicles, people create them.
First experiment
Our first experiment took place on The Monday of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. Stacy and I went to Chaoyang Park to do our first experiment. Our first lab was rowing in Chaoyang Park, but when we got there, we didn’t see the boat that met our expectations, so we left in frustration.
But before we left, we saw a place where children played. There are hovercraft and water, where children can swim. So we decided to use the form of hovercraft to show art, ships.
After this experiment, we start to buy some materials. For the boat, we decided to use hovercraft.
Second experiment
For the second experiment, we test on the materials for the other element that would be used in the boat project.
First, we found a drink bottle and planned to use it as part of the boat project. Because on a boat, people spend the day, a day that includes drinking. We painted the drink bottle with blue and pink acrylic paint.
When we finish to paint on the drink bottle. We bought some bottles to create. On the outside of the bottle, we painted pink and blue colors, making it meaningful, not just the bottle.
Third experiment
In this experiment, Stacy and I finished the experiment in painting. We found a piece of plastic paper, which we used to wrap the ship in. So we started trying it on it and painted it blue to make it feel flowing.
We took it in our hands and found it more effective, so we finished the experiment with great satisfaction.
