Issey Miyake, original name Miyake Kazumaru, (born April 22, 1938, Hiroshima, Japan), Japanese fashion designer who was known for combining Eastern and Western elements in his work.

Collections

Miyake’s signature graphic prism was the dish of the day, present in almost every look. However, this time it appeared in an updated version of a “baked stretch”, a process by which fabric is expanded by heat to create fluid shapes. Miyake’s typical
 pleats also made a dramatic appearance, exposing an almost holographic spectrum with origami detailing. Despite universe’s hollowness, Miyake’s space traveller seemed to know exactly where she was going; to the infinity and beyond.

Beyond

As if on a space odyssey to find new galaxies, the Issey Miyake muse for A/W 16 seemed to have embarked on a journey among stars. “Beyond”, the key word that marked Miyake’s collection showcased a sartorial outer-space voyage, where a galactic princess steered the ship.
