Introduction
Sophon is a project that I participate in the China Thinks Big competition with six of my classmates. The topic of our project is “How to help high school students who are weak in social skills but are eager to establish relationships to improve their social niche”.

Nowadays, the psychological problems of teenagers are paid more and more attention by the society. As people’s cognitive level is updated, people begin to associate the biological concept of “niche” with communities and apply it to complex social networks. In our opinion, high school is a stage in which people generally seek for identity, their values are easily affected, and their self-identity is initially established. Therefore, “learning to find your social niche in the community” is helpful for people to preview their relationships in the adult workplace and improve their social skills in the community. At the same time, a stable social niche can help high school students achieve a higher level in mental health, study, emotion and other aspects, so as to alleviate psychological problems and establish identity.
In this project, we experienced four assignments and the Global Station Qualification, and produced the opening report, research report, interactive video, practice report, project display board, introduction video, team log and other results, which was a very unforgettable experience.

In the research stage, we made assumptions about the factors affecting the friendship of high school students, such as academic performance, hobbies, appearance, etc., and verified our assumptions through a series of subsequent studies, such as collecting questionnaires, consulting papers, reading books.

On the other hand, as the person in charge of the visual part of the whole project, I did visual work including the introduction of team members, interactive videos, introduction videos and display boards.

Self-reflection
I have always had a great interest in “community”, but this project was the first time I had looked at my society from such a broad perspective. “High school students” are the people I have the closest relationship with, but I haven’t thought much about that before. China Thinks Big and my teammates give me such an opportunity. We struggled with the original topic for a long time, but we couldn’t find the “This is it!” question, it’s either too common or not interesting. It wasn’t until we were chatting in a meeting that we suddenly realized that the biological concept of “niche” had something to do with the social network we wanted to study, so we decided on the topic at once. Looking back now, I still think that the inspiration was very precious.

If we regard interpersonal relationships as a network and every person as a node, the value of social niche is the flow rate in the node.
In the research process, we made bold hypotheses and received feedback from the target audience, which is high school students, through articles and questionnaires. However, due to the insufficient sample size, our research had certain limitations. Further analysis disproved some of these assumptions, such as the relationship between physical similarity and friendship. But there are some hypotheses that can be proven, such as that people who enjoy the same music and sports are more likely to form friendships.
This is a relatively mature program, and we have gone through the entire phase from opening presentation to reassessment, and we have received feedback from China Thinks Big experts on our program. Of course, the project itself has a lot to strengthen, and we may improve it at some point in the future.
