Introduction

This artifact is a short English play video, also is the final assignment of EL2, which has already uploaded to bilibili.com. This fantasy mainly talks about a story involving the experience that a warrior fulfilled his destiny to kill the Dragon. The core idea of the story is that: He who fights the monster thereby becomes the monster; if thou gaze into an abyss, the abyss also gaze into thee. I want to warn people that the justice moment that people most admired or praised may not be just in essence.

My teammates and I used Minecraft this game as the medium to help us complete every work. Considering of the inconvenience of our working condition, we expected to present our project both creatively and extraordinarily. Minecraft is such a suitable approach. We built several major scenes in the world of Minecraft which are related to our story plot. By operating the fictitious characters in the game, the whole story can be performed as well as recorded it later.

In this project, from writing the script to building the scenes in Minecraft, were all done by ourselves. Basically I took part in the script writing and designing storyboards and developed creative thinking skills during this process. As the help of my teammates, we could overcome many challenges and problems, such as recording issue, character performance and Minecraft settings.

Reflection

During this artifact, I vastly challenged my creative thinking skills at the beginning. Petula just told us to produce something about fantasy. So, I conducted a big brainstorm to decide which form of presentation would we use to complete this assignment. We came to a lot of feasible choices. Through discussions, we finally confirmed a core idea and chose utilizing Minecraft as an agency to present our videos. I made a picture to indicate our process of idea generation:

Besides, I did a clear work allocation and discussed with my teammates to follow my instructions to make sure that we can have a efficient working condition. In order to record well, I even tested my facility in advance. However, a problem came. I could not shoot the video by my computer clearly. Through recurrent trying and testing, I decided to use a phone to do the screen recording. And it worked effectively until the end of this artifact. I even engaged in taking risks to trial and error. For instance, we tried to insert a dragon into the scene for our needs in the script though the dragon was really offensive. Even it killed our characters in Minecraft for many times unpredictably.

I am also feel comfortable to my creative production and design thinking. My teammates and I consolidated all the resources in Minecraft to help building our scenes and designing actions for characters. Basically I split our script into four parts for clarifying everyone’s responsibility and improving the effect of our video.

Last but not least, I sill need to improve my facilitating skills. I will regard the working experience as a failure of collaboration. Because I could not inspire others to be initiative enough. At the same time, although my teammates gave some feedback to our thinking and production, it was not enough at all. As a creative form of video, I should ask for more feedback both from my team and other learners. And I need to do more versions of testing so that we can create better scenes and performances. For reaching higher level of creative thinking, I would like to evaluate our driving question or a core problem with different aspects, trying to reach more creative ideas that can resolve the problem.
